Of course some of them would be denying it, while Ringo says “Guys come on, how much longer do you think we can go on living like this? We’re just lying to ourselves.”īut in that hour of darkness, Mother Mary is there again. And that’s an hour of darkness if there ever was one. This hour of darkness is clearly when they wake up and the LSD wears off and George is cuddling with Ringo and John is laying naked spread-eagle on the couch with Paul passed out on his lap with the TV remote. This hour could be during a regular disaster, like getting really drunk and then waking up in the morning only to find out that you ate your pet Chihuahua or coming home from work and finding out that you’re out of beer… But for The Beatles, it’s something more. In the song, an “hour of darkness” is mentioned. Which means that she most likely goes to them and tells them to “let it be.” Anyways, Mother Mary is a spiritual figure. Either she goes over and says things to them about how they should stop with the LSD induced gay orgies, or she… Well, I won’t go there. The word comes, in this context, could mean one of two things.

Now, Mother Mary apparently “comes to” them in these “times of trouble”. Really their main problem would be how to get untangled after an LSD induced gay orgy.

For example, your view of trouble may be running out of beer money, not being able to pay your bills, having your dog repossessed, or having your son come back from rehab only to steal your car and drive to Reno because Pennsylvania’s drugs just aren’t as good as the shit you find in Nevada… Anyways, do you really think The Beatles had those problems? Probably not. Now think about The Beatles’ view of trouble. In the song, he speaks of finding himself in times of trouble. Now before you go and start calling me ‘stupid’, or ‘childish’, or ‘I’m gonna burn your house down you ass’ (which is actually usually misspelled), let me show you the facts. I believe that this song is about The Beatles’ struggle with their latent homosexuality. Nevertheless, here it is My interpretation of ‘Let it Be’ by the Beatles. In fact, I may be way off on whatever the real meaning of the song is. Now, not everyone interprets songs in the same way, so I’m not saying that just because I said that a song is about an artist’s struggle with their latent homosexuality, that it’s necessarily right.

So, many people listen to songs and wonder, “What does the artist mean by that?” In my new segment, I will be explaining popular songs in my own special way.
